AKATARA adalah kegiatan berskala nasional dalam rangkaian Hari Film Nasional yang diinisiasi oleh Badan Perfilman Indonesia bekerjasama dengan BEKRAF untuk mendukung pembiayaan pada berbagai tahapan produksi film Indonesia. AKATARA merupakan wadah yang mempertemukan para pembuat film Indonesia bersama proposal terpilih dengan para pihak pendana, baik dari dalam maupun luar negeri yang serius berkomitmen dalam bisnis film.
Akatara Indonesian Film Financing Forum (Akatara) is a national scale event held as part of Indonesia National Film Day event series initiated by Indonesian Film Council (BPI; Badan Perfilman Indonesia) in collaboration with Indonesia Agency for Creative Economy (BEKRAF; Badan Ekonomi Kreatif Indonesia) which will be held on November 15 and 16, 2017. Akatara program is specifically targeted for film projects on production stages, and aimed to initiate access to funding by providing conducive space between Indonesian film project makers and potential funders. The Akatara event consists of two stages of event namely pre-event Akatara and main-event Akatara. The pre-event includes Roadshows Akatara which were held in Surabaya on October 24 2017 and Makassar on November 2 2017; Film Investment Forum Akatara which was held in Jakarta on October 27 2017; and Masterclass Akatara which will be held in Jakarta on November 14, 2017 which includes sharing materials on types of film investment, capacity building, project presentation, project pitching, film-project market forecast and also public speaking. The pre-event Akatara is aimed to socialize main-event Akatara to gain higher attention and interest from public, especially the potential funders, and also to introduce opportunities, potentials and risk management on film investment to the participating potential funders. The Akatara potential funders include Angel Investors, Venture Capital, Philanthropy, Television, Media, Individuals, Brands, Financial Institutions, Film Distributor, Sales Agent, Exhibitor, State-Owned Enterprises, Regional-Owned Enterprises, Central and Local Government. The Akatara open submission was on October 9 2017 and closed on October 21 2017 with 381 active users registered and 89 projects submitted. The event will select 40 qualified film projects with criteria i.e. story ideas and synopsis, director’s treatment, video teaser, timeline on production projection, production budget, business projection, and portfolio. The main Akatara event consists of pitching forum and one on one meeting. The 40 selected projects were invited to the forum and provided meeting-space for each, for one-on-one meeting with the interested funder during the event, and the 40 selected projects will again be selected into big 12 to join the pitching program in the forum to present their works on stage to the participating funders. The 40 selected projects include 12 film projects supported by BEKRAF; 2 film projects joining Torino Film Lab Event 2017 and 10 film projects on 10 Indonesian tourism destinations from 10 directors, while the rest 28 projects are selected from the Akatara event.
The Akatara event is open for Indonesian citizen with portfolio-proven filmmaking experience who professionally committed and responsible on film production. The projects eligible for the competition are fiction film project, either animated or live action, national and/or international scale; short film project with duration of 5-30 minutes and feature-length film with minimum duration of 80 minutes; and film projects at screenplay development, production, and post production stages. The film projects that have been partially funded by other sources can still join the register. Akatara will cover the ticket and accommodation of 2 persons for each of the selected projects during the event, with maximum three projects for each producer/director/screenwriter.
